Our Story

What We Do

Hanji (한지) Magazine was founded by our editor-in-chief, Eojin Park after she noticed a comparative lack of creative writing and art spaces for students at Chadwick International. She was joined by our creative director, Victoria Im, as well as our fiction and poetry editor, Yoojin Lee and our nonfiction editor, Kenna Choi.

Eojin, Victoria, Yoojin and Kenna initially launched this project desiring to nurture a greater passion for writing and art within the Chadwick community. Now, they hope to encourage the growth of more writing collectives and publish work by writers and artists across the globe.

Hanji Magazine is dedicated to publishing work by creative writers and artists in the Chadwick International School community as well as the Chadwick School in Palos Verdes. Volume 1 is out now on our website: click here to read.

Additionally, Hanji Magazine hosts the annual International Creative Writers' Collective in collaboration with the Chadwick School Writing club. The workshop features lessons, dynamic activities, opportunity to interact with other writers and esteemed guest speakers. Our previous International Creative Writers' Collective included over 50 participants and hosted D.J. Machale, author of the Pendragon Series, and Anton Hur, recipient of the PEN/Heim translation award and one of the shortlisted candidates for the 2022 International Booker Prize.
